San Luis Obispo has been designated a Bicycle Friendly Community since 2007. Our bicycle network is over 60 miles of bike paths, bike lanes, and on-street facilities. Locking and securing your bike is easy with over 150 bike parking spaces throughout the City. The bus offers an affordable yet convenient way to discover San Luis Obispo. SLO Transit is the City’s bus and provides daily fixed-route transit services within the City Limits and to Cal Poly. It’s easy to track your bus live by using our "Bus Tracker" App for your phone (iPhone and Android) or track-your-bus-live on your computer. Do you work in San Luis Obispo’s downtown district? The Old SLO Trolley (operated by SLO Transit) offers loops around Downtown and upper Monterey Street depending on the time of year. What could be a more enjoyable way to explore our historic downtown?

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) offers bus services within the County of San Luis Obispo connecting in to the City. For more information, contact RideShare.

Greyhound offers a stop in the City at 1460 Calle Joaquin Street.



The City’s Public Works Department is continuously hard at work to get you to your destination safely—starting with the design of the roadways all the way to the pothole maintenance. While driving, keep an eye out for construction in the roadway. Click here for a listing of construction projects affecting traffic commutes in town. Remember to share the road with bicyclists, watch for pedestrians, and drive cautiously in construction zones.

Amtrak provides service to the railroad station at 1011 Railroad Avenue in San Luis Obispo, just outside of downtown in the heart of the historic Railroad District between Santa Rosa and Osos Streets. The train makes regional transportation into and out of San Luis Obispo a convenient option.



The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is located just south of the City Limit off of Broad Street. Both short and long term parking are available as well as taxi service.
