Volunteering has many benefits! Volunteering has been shown to cultivate a strong sense of belonging amongst those who serve and broaden one’s social circle through connecting with others who enjoy giving back and being active in their community. Volunteers often gain new skills that can help them advance both personally and professionally and lead to increases in overall well-being.

The City of San Luis Obispo offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for youth and adults, individuals and groups, students, retirees, professionals, and more – all are welcome and encouraged to engage. We celebrate and thank our academic, non-profit and community-based organizations civic groups and community groups, faith-based organizations, and other government agencies.

To find the right volunteer opportunity for you:

1. Consider your interests.
