Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) occur when groundwater or rainwater flow into the sewer system, either through a direct connection or through seepage through cracked laterals, leaky pipe joints and/or deteriorated manholes. Flows into the City’s sewer system from I/I can create a variety of problems and can lead to spills and compliance problems.

Sewer laterals have been identified as a significant source of I/I and the Utilities Department will be looking into a program to help homeowners replace their damaged laterals. The City is interested in hearing from our customers about this important issue. Please fill out the form below to receive additional information about how you can help reduce I/I.
