How to Register

1. Navigate to the payment website at  www.slocity.org/paywaterbill. 
2. Under the login box, click the on the “Sign Up” button to setup your account.
3. Enter your last name or business name exactly as it appears on your bill
4. Enter your utility account number (this can be found near the top right of your bill)
5. Fill in your e-mail address and create a password
6. Confirm your e-mail address and password, and click “Complete Registration”

To activate advanced options, you must first verify that your email address is valid —

1. Log in to your new account
2. If you have not already done so, click on the pink box that says "Verify Your E-Mail Now”
3. The system will send you an email with a link. Once you click that link, you will have more options on the website to select e-billing or set up auto pay. 
4. Log back into your account and change any settings preferences on the "My Profile" tab.

How to Pay 

1. One Time Payment: A customer can make a payment without registering on the payment website by simply going to the site, clicking on the "One Time Payment" button and entering their account number. Please note, you are only able to pay with a Visa or Mastercard when making a payment without registering.
   
   
2. Manual Payment: Registered customers can pay their bill by logging in to the City’s site. This prevents them from having to enter their account number each time and allows them to save payment information to make the process just a few clicks.
   
   
3. Automatic Payment: Registered customers can opt to have their bill paid automatically every month from a credit or debit card or from their checking account. Please note that the automatic payment date cannot be set by the customer and occurs 16 days after the billing date, NOT on the due date.

Other Options

1. E-Bills: 
   1. Click on the “My Profile” tab
   2. Scroll to the bottom and click "edit" to the right of the account number.
   3. In the section titled “Electronic Bill” click the round button next to the word “Yes”
   4. Click Save
      
      
2. Saving Payment Methods: 
   1. Click on the “My Profile” tab
   2. In the section titled “Payment Methods” click “Add a new payment method”
   3. Fill in the information and save
      
      
3. Automatic Payment: 
   1. Click on the “My Profile” tab
   2. Click "edit" to the right of your account number
   3. In the section titled “Auto Pay Options” click the checkbox next to “Yes, I would like to activate auto payment”
   4. If you already have a saved payment method you would like to use, select it by clicking the circle next to it and click "Save"
   5. If you do not already have a saved payment method, enter the information for your chosen payment method and Save
      
      
4. View Past Bills: Customers can view their past billing and payment history going back 12 months.
   1. Click on the “Activity” tab
   2. Scroll through to view your history
   3. If you would like to view a particular bill, you may click the link titled “Billing” for the bill in question
      
      
5. View Usage: 
   1. Click on the “Usage” tab
   2. View your usage history
   3. Customers who have been at the same address for over a year can compare their current usage to the same periods in the prior year to spot trends and issues
      
      
6. Manage Multiple Accounts: Customers who have more than one utility account can manage them all from the same online profile. To add additional accounts …
   1. Click on the “My Profile” tab
   2. Scroll to the bottom and click the link “Add Account”
   3. Enter the last name or business name as it appears on the utility bill for the new account
   4. Enter the utility account number for the new account and click Save
   5. You may now select which account you would like to view on the Dashboard tab, using a drop menu near the top right corner

Pay by Phone: 
Customers can obtain their balance or pay their water and sewer bill 24/7 using the City's automated telephone payment system by calling (805) 781-7133 and pressing option #1.

You must have your account number to access this system. Your account number can be found on the top right corner of your bill. Phone payments can be made using Visa or MasterCard only. All payments will be posted to your account immediately after the system confirms payment.

If you would like to speak with a Utility Billing Specialist to discuss your bill further, please call during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and simply stay on the line. 

Mail:
To pay your bill by mail, please send your check, along with your payment coupon from the bottom of your bill to the address below. If you do not have your payment coupon, you can also include the account number or service address on the check memo. Payments received by mail are posted by 3 pm on business days.

Walk-in: 
To make a payment in person, please visit the lower floor of City Hall at 990 Palm St. during normal business hours (Mon – Fri, 8 am – 4 pm, excluding holidays). 

Drop-box: 

For after-hours payments, there is a payment drop-box located at 990 Palm Street in front of the Finance and Information Technology entrance that faces Palm Street. There are four drop boxes built into the brick wall on the right-hand side of the entrance near the sidewalk. Please use the box labeled "City of San Luis Obispo" on the far right. Payments dropped after 7:45 am will be credited to your account the following business day.

Please do not deposit cash in the payment drop box. 
Please do not use the payment drop box for accounts subject to shut off. 

Continuous Water & Sewer Service Accounts

The City of San Luis Obispo Utilities Department now offers continuous service agreements for property owners and property managers. 

The Continuous Service Account option ensures that there will never an interruption in water and sewer service to the property. This option allows for automatic transfer of the utility account for water and sewer services to the landlord or property owner when a tenant discontinues the account. This option comes with no sign-up fee, but all related charges for water and sewer services will be billed to the Continuous Service Account from the day of transfer and as set-up under the continuous service account information.

Please note that the continuous service account cannot be discontinued until a new tenant claims the account and sets up service as the new party responsible for services. The continuous service account holder is responsible for informing new tenants of their need to arrange for the transfer of water and sewer service into their individual names at the time of occupancy.
