Home MenuHoliday Trees
NEW THIS YEAR! San Luis Garbage will collect and recycle your whole, real holiday tree for free - No cutting required.
This free program will be available from 12/29/25 - 1/9/2026.
Guidelines:
-
Trees must be real - no fake or flocked trees.
-
Remove the stand and all decorations - including ornaments and tinsel.
-
Single-Family Home Customers: Place undecorated trees on the curb on your collection day for pickup.
-
Multi-Family Customers: The account holder (usually the property manager) must call San Luis Garbage at (805) 543-0875 to schedule a pickup day and agree on a disposal location for tenants.
- Flocked trees, artificial trees, broken or unwanted ornaments, tinsel, ribbon, and tree stands should be placed in your landfill cart.
- Broken or unwanted holiday lights are tanglers and cannot go in the blue recycle cart. Instead, recycle them at a Household Hazardous Waste Facility in SLO County.
- Trees must be a safe size to be removed by one person. If the tree is extra large, the top of the tree may be cut off and placed in the green organics cart.
