Project Overview

The Mission Plaza Enhancement Project is the culmination of years of planning and visioning, rooted in the City of San Luis Obispo’s longstanding commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community space. While enhancements to Mission Plaza were formally initiated with the adoption of an official concept plan in 2017, the project reflects decades of effort to establish the plaza as both a literal and figurative hub of the city.

Mission Plaza serves as a dynamic center for arts, culture, history, and community engagement, embodying San Luis Obispo’s identity and vision for the future. Aligning with Major City Goals this project builds on its rich legacy by implementing sustainable, inclusive, and innovative improvements that will ensure the plaza continues to thrive as a focal point for public life and activity.
