CONTEST A CITATION PROCESS

To contest a parking citation you must submit your request in writing or by submitting the online review form. The request for parking citation review must be received within 21 calendar days of receiving the parking citation or within 14 calendar days of receiving the delinquent notice. The procedures to contest a citation are governed by California Vehicle Code (CVC 40215)

You may include any photos and/or other documentation to assist in your appeal.

Upon receiving the completed request for parking citation review form, within the timeline stated above, the parking citation will be placed on "hold" during the review process. Decisions will be sent by mail to the address provided on the parking citation review form.

If the parking citation is upheld, the submitter will have 21 days from the date the decision is mailed to pay the parking citation and/or request a hearing.

Hearing Requests must be submitted to the Parking Services Office within 21 days from the mail date on the form. The procedure to contest a citation is governed by the California Vehicle Code. The fine amount must be paid by check or money order to proceed with a hearing. If the citation is dismissed at the hearing the amount of the fine will be refunded to the requester within 10 business days. If paying the fine prior to the hearing will cause a hardship you may request a Waiver of Penalty Deposit.

If the parking citation is dismissed, the file is closed and no monies are due.
