The San Luis Obispo Police Department presents its 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, a comprehensive and forward-looking roadmap that will shape the future of our agency and the community we serve. This Strategic Plan serves as a measure of our commitment to transparency and accountability. It will guide our resource allocation and ensure that we are utilizing our capabilities and capacities efficiently and effectively. With this plan as our compass, we are confident in our ability to provide exemplary service and build a police department that meets the highest standards.

In 2024, the San Luis Obispo Police Department contracted with the Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) for a review of the staffing and operations of the department. CPSM completed an analysis of the Department's workload, deployment levels and other performance indicators and provided recommendations on staffing changes that would enhance organizational effectiveness.
