***Following School Closures, City to Temporarily Suspend Before and After School Care Programs for Participant Safety***

April 6, 2020 Update

Dear Youth Services Families,

Your Parks and Recreation Youth Services family is working to find new ways of doing business and we will be ready for you this fall when the new school year starts. Look for individual emails coming this week from YouthServicesRegistration@slocity.org to provide information to enroll for our qualifying families.

We are continuing to adhere to “qualifying families” parameters, based on attendance patterns demonstrated in September through February. This will ensure program space is available for the families who need care the most for regular work and school. Open Enrollment will be available to all families, currently scheduled for July.

For qualifying families, we will be conducting an online registration process beginning the week of April 20. Directions will be provided to those needing care. As always, we ask that if care isn’t essential to your family for work or school, you allow those who need it to register first.

Take care and look for more information towards the end of next week.

 -Meghan

March 2020 Update

In partnership and support of the recent decision by the San Luis Coastal Unified School District to close campuses beginning Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, April 14, 2020, the City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department Youth Services program will temporarily suspend before and after school childcare services during this time frame.

The City understands the value and need for these services in the community, but our top priority is the health and safety of the children participating, families, program staff and our community. We are currently reviewing potential alternatives and resources available to fill this important need in our community.

We are committed to providing regular updates as more information becomes available. For additional information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (805) 781- 7300.
