The City was awarded a California State Parks Prop 68 grant of $2.81 million in December 2021 and has started the design of a project that will bring the existing amenities and services to current safety and ADA standards at Emerson Park (except for the exercise equipment that was recently replaced through another project and the community garden area that may be upgraded in-house with City staff).

Past Community Feedback Opportunities

The City coordinated a variety of community feedback opportunities for input on new and updated amenity ideas for the park in 2023 with both an in-person event at Emerson Park on Monday, June 19, 2023, as well as a 30-day on-line survey held from June 19-July 18, 2023, resulting in over 275 responses.  The City is currently working with SSA Design on the new park beautification design with anticipation of construction documents being completed in late 2025.  Additionally, the park project design continues to be reviewed by both City staff and the Parks and Recreation Commission. The project is anticipated to move forward with construction in 2026.
