The Fire Department Public Information Officer (Fire PIO) is the primary point of contact for the news media regarding any Fire Department information or happenings. This includes emergency and non-emergency / administrative activities.
Media Reporters & Assignment Desk Editors
All reporters and assignment desk editors are urged to first check the Fire Department (recorded) Newsline prior to contacting the Fire PIO when seeking breaking news or incident information. This Newsline provides recorded updates on incidents occurring in the City of San Luis Obispo and is updated as soon as accurate information is available.
If there are delays in updating the Newsline, additional incident information is needed, or non-emergency related information is needed, media reporters and assignment desk editors are encouraged to reach out directly to the Fire PIO who is in the office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is also available both to the media and for emergency response after hours 24/7.
