Fire Station 2 was built in 1953. The oldest fire station in the City, Fire Station 2 provides primary response to the north sections of San Luis Obispo and to the Cal Poly campus. This station is 2,900 square feet with two apparatus bays. In 1993 the station was retrofitted for seismic stability, and in 2015 the station will be remodeled to provide dedicated male and female restroom facilities.
Fire station 2 is staffed with three professional firefighters (one Captain, one Engineer, and one Firefighter) and, in addition to fire and rescue service, provides paramedic care by crossed-trained firefighter-paramedics.
Apparatus housed at Fire Station 2 includes Engine 2 and a State owned Type I pumper, Engine 271.
