Fire Station 1 was completed in 1996. The newest fire station in the City, Fire Station 1 provides primary response to the downtown sections of San Luis Obispo. The two-story building is equipped with a firehouse pole and houses the Fire Administrative offices, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the department’s maintenance shop with one mechanic, as well as emergency response vehicles.
Fire Station 1 is staffed by a Battalion Chief and a 4-person paramedic truck company. One of the response equipment trailers for the Countywide Hazardous Materials Team is housed at this facility as is a Type VI wildland response vehicle (Patrol 1), a non-transport medical response unit (Squad 1), and the reserve ladder truck, a 1993 75-foot quint. The crew of Truck 1 maintains all vehicles at Fire Station 1.
