The Fire Apparatus Repair Shop is located at the rear of the Fire Station 1. It is 1,536 square feet. The shop is the lone remaining structure from the land's previous owner, and while it is sufficient for mechanical parts storage it was never designed to be capable of providing mechanical service to heavy duty apparatus such as fire engines. The three roll-up doors lead to maintenance bays that will not accommodate fire engines and ladder trucks. In the future, the Department hopes to expand this facility at its current location so our mechanic isn't forced to service equipment outdoors in all weather conditions.
Housing our Fire Vehicle Mechanic at Fire Station 1 is vital to our operations. With our training center also located at Fire Station 1, having our shop here allows our mechanics to work on apparatus in a central location of the City while our crews attend training.
