Zoning
Zoning regulations are rules designed to help guide the growth of a city in an organized way. They are based on a general plan that aims to protect and improve the environment, both natural and man-made. Zoning regulations help keep communities safe, healthy, and well-organized by controlling how land and buildings are used, as well as where and how structures are built. Examples of different zones are: Residential Zones are where homes can be built, and Commercial Zones are where businesses or stores may be built.
Each zone has rules called development standards. These rules include things like how tall buildings can be, how far they must be from the street, and how much parking is needed. These standards help make sure buildings fit well in their surroundings and don’t cause problems for nearby areas.
