What is the Process to Purchase an Affordable Unit?
1. Check the City's Affordable Housing Standards to determine if you meet the income limitations for the unit's affordability level.
2. Meet with a mortgage lender to pre-qualify for a loan to purchase the unit.
3.Check local real estate MLS services for affordable units. An offer can be placed, accepted, and a purchase agreement can be established at this time pending income verification.
4. Potential buyers who have obtained a pre-qualification letter from a lender, AND an offer accepted on a unit, then need to contact the Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo (HASLO) in order to have their household income verified.
