The Planning Commission (PC) meets the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, California. Regular Planning Commission meetings are broadcast live on Charter Cable Government Access Channel 20 or can be streamed live online. Previous meeting videos are available for viewing and duplicates can be purchased in the City Clerk's Office located at 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, during normal business hours.
Purpose, Membership and Terms
The PC regularly makes decisions regarding land use policies and specific development applications. Some are recommendations to the Council and some are final, subject to appeal to the Council. The PC also reviews and recommends long-range plans for the City's growth and development. The PC consist of seven members who are not necessarily planning professionals. Members must be residents and registered voters of the City. Members are appointed to four-year terns and are eligible for re-appointment for an additional four-year term. The roster of current members, date of appointment, and date of term expiration can be reviewed on the City's Local Appointments List.
How can I express my opinion on an upcoming agenda item?
All interested persons are invited to attend Advisory Body meetings to express their views verbally, or to submit written communications to the Advisory Body members (firstname.lastname@example.org) to express their opinions for or against the agenda item. Citizens are encouraged to present written comments (including emails) at least one day prior to the meeting. This provides the Council and Advisory Bodies with a greater opportunity to review and consider issues and/or concerns expressed in written communications prior to a meeting. Written comments received before, at or during a Council or Advisory Body meeting are included in the public record and posted to the City’s website.
Comments submitted less than three (3) hours before a meeting will be included in the record, but will not be distributed or posted before the meeting.
