Regular Planning Commission meetings are broadcast live on Charter Cable Government Access Channel 20 or can be streamed live online. Previous meeting videos are available for viewing and duplicates can be purchased in the City Clerk's Office located at 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, during normal business hours.
How can I express my opinion on an upcoming agenda item?
At the Meeting:
All interested persons are invited to attend Advisory Body meetings to express their views verbally. To speak at the meeting, provide a speaker slip to the Clerk in advance, up to and including when public comment is opened for the item. Note that Public Comment for items not on the agenda are taken at the beginning of the meeting.
Electronic Visual Aid Presentation - For security conformance with the City's Network Access and Use Policy, members of the public who desire to utilize electronic visual aids to supplement their oral presentation must provide display-ready material to the City Clerk or Advisory Body staff by 12:00 noon on the day of the meeting.
In Advance of the Meeting:
Written correspondence may be mailed to the Advisory Body care of the City Clerk, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo CA 93401, or emailed to the Advisory Body members (firstname.lastname@example.org). Citizens are encouraged to present written comments (including emails) at least one day prior to the meeting. This provides the Council and Advisory Bodies with a greater opportunity to review and consider issues and/or concerns expressed in written communications prior to a meeting. Written comments received before, at or during a Council or Advisory Body meeting are included in the public record and posted to the City’s website.
Comments submitted less than three (3) hours before a meeting will be included in the record, but will not be distributed or posted before the meeting.
NOTE: Written comments relating to an upcoming agenda item will be distributed and posted online as Agenda Correspondence, pursuant to City Policies and Procedures.
Purpose, Membership and Terms
The PC regularly makes decisions regarding land use policies and specific development applications. Some are recommendations to the Council and some are final, subject to appeal to the Council. The PC also reviews and recommends long-range plans for the City's growth and development. The PC consist of seven members who are not necessarily planning professionals. Members must be residents and registered voters of the City. Members are appointed to four-year terns and are eligible for re-appointment for an additional four-year term.
