Meeting Information

The Jack House Committee (JHC) meets the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Department office located at 1341 Nipomo Street, San Luis Obispo, California. For more information contact staff liaison David Setterlund at (805) 781-7067 or email dsetterlund@slocity.org.

Purpose, Membership and Terms

The JHC assists in the administration and restoration of the historic Jack House residence at 536 Marsh Street. The JHC makes recommendations for the basic rules and regulations that will allow for the greatest possible public use and enjoyment of the house and grounds, while protecting and preserving the history and integrity of the Jack House. The JHC consist of seven members, with one member from the County Historical Society, Cal Poly School of Architecture faculty, Cal Poly Department of Ornamental Horticulture faculty, and City Parks and Recreation Commission (retired Cal Poly faculty qualify for these positions). The other three members are selected at-large and must be residents and registered voters of the City. Members are appointed to four-year terms but not subject to term limits. The roster of current members, date of appointment, and date of term expiration can be reviewed on the City's Local Appointments List.


How can I express my opinion on an upcoming agenda item?

All interested persons are invited to attend Advisory Body meetings to express their views verbally, or to submit written communications to the Advisory Body members (advisorybodies@slocity.org) to express their opinions for or against the agenda item. Citizens are encouraged to present written comments (including emails) at least one day prior to the meeting. This provides the Council and Advisory Bodies with a greater opportunity to review and consider issues and/or concerns expressed in written communications prior to a meeting. Written comments received before, at or during a Council or Advisory Body meeting are included in the public record and posted to the City’s website.

Comments submitted less than three (3) hours before a meeting will be included in the record, but will not be distributed or posted before the meeting.
