How can I express my opinion on an upcoming agenda item?
At the Meeting:
All interested persons are invited to attend Advisory Body meetings to express their views verbally. To speak at the meeting, provide a speaker slip to the Clerk in advance, up to and including when public comment is opened for the item. Note that Public Comment for items not on the agenda are taken at the beginning of the meeting.
Electronic Visual Aid Presentation - For security conformance with the City's Network Access and Use Policy, members of the public who desire to utilize electronic visual aids to supplement their oral presentation must provide display-ready material to the City Clerk or Advisory Body staff by 12:00 noon on the day of the meeting.
In Advance of the Meeting:
Written correspondence may be mailed to the Advisory Body care of the City Clerk, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo CA 93401, or emailed to the Advisory Body members (firstname.lastname@example.org). Citizens are encouraged to present written comments (including emails) at least one day prior to the meeting. This provides the Council and Advisory Bodies with a greater opportunity to review and consider issues and/or concerns expressed in written communications prior to a meeting. Written comments received before, at or during a Council or Advisory Body meeting are included in the public record and posted to the City’s website.
Comments submitted less than three (3) hours before a meeting will be included in the record, but will not be distributed or posted before the meeting.
Purpose, Membership and Terms
The ARC establishes architectural guidelines and rules on the design of new construction and major commercial remodeling projects. The ARC consist of seven members, who must be residents and registered voters of the City. Members should have a proven interest in the City's physical environment and the ability to make positive and fair aesthetic evaluations. Members are appointed to four-year terms and are eligible for reappointment for an additional four years.
