County START Guide Phase 1 Cannot Begin on Friday, May 8

Local officials continue to advocate for local control, await more details from State

Following the State’s recent announcement that California may soon move to an “early Stage 2” of reopening, the County of San Luis Obispo has announced Phase 1 of the START Guide cannot begin on Friday, May 8th, 2020.  The City of San Luis Obispo continues to partner with the County to understand the State’s approach to reopening and advocate for local control on a phased plan that protects public health while also providing residents, organizations, and businesses with a path to reopening our community and economy.

Please continue to honor the Shelter at Home Order, maintain 6 feet of distance between yourself and others, and consider using a face mask when social distance can’t be maintained. Many local restaurants continue to provide take-out, curbside pickup and delivery, open space trails continue to be open with physical distancing and the Parks and Recreation Virtual Recreation webpage continues to provide great activities for home participation.

For more information on the Shelter at Home Order visit www.ReadySLO.org or call the recorded Public Health Information Line at (805) 788-2903. A staffed phone assistance center at (805) 543-2444 is available seven (7) days a week (Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) for questions related to COVID-19.
