City Cancels Non-Essential Public Meetings; City Council Meetings Will Continue with Safety Measures

In order to further reduce the risk of community spread of COVID-19 in our community, the City of San Luis Obispo is announcing the cancellation of non-essential public meetings and additional safety measures for City Council meetings. The City will continue to provide all essential services to the community.

Non-Essential Public Meetings:  All non-essential public meetings, including City advisory body meetings, have been canceled this week (March 16 through March 20) with the exception of the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) special meeting scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, March 17, 2020.  Due to the requirements for social distancing, there will be limited capacity for public attendance.  Community members are strongly encouraged to watch the meeting live on cable Channel 20 and streamlined on the City’s website (www.slocity.org/channel20).  The public can also submit public comment for meetings in advance by emailing cityclerk@slocity.org by 9:45 am on the day of the meeting. During the meeting, comments can be emailed to cityclerk@slocity.org up until the start of public comment for an item. Emails will be read into the record by the Recording Secretary/City Clerk. A timer will be set and only the portion of the email that can be read in 3 minutes will be allowed.

If you have questions about public meetings or need additional accommodations, please contact the Office of the City Clerk at cityclerk@slocity.org or (805) 781-7100.

City Council Meetings: The regularly scheduled City Council meeting for Tuesday, March 17, 2020 will take place in the Council Chamber at 6:00 p.m.  City Hall will open at 5:00 p.m. and due to the requirements for social distancing, there will be limited capacity for public attendance. Community members are strongly encouraged to watch City Council meetings live on cable Channel 20 and streamlined on the City’s website (www.slocity.org/channel20). The public can also submit public comment for meetings in advance by emailing emailcouncil@slocity.org. During the meeting, comments can be emailed to cityclerk@slocity.org up until the start of public comment for an item.
