City of San Luis Obispo Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The City today announced it has earned a Distinguished Budget Presentation award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the 2019-21 Financial Plan.
“We are honored to receive this award, which represents months of strategic planning, community engagement and preparation by all City departments,” said San Luis Obispo City Manager Derek Johnson. “This is a significant achievement by the City’s Finance Department and reflects the commitment of the City Council and City staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.”
In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves the organization and general public in the following areas:
- Policy Document
- Financial Plan
- Operational Guide
- Communications Device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award. The 2019-21 Financial Plan and is available on the City’s website at slocity.org along with the 219-21 Financial Plan – Budget Fact Sheet.
