City of San Luis Obispo Awarded $162,000 Grant for Electric Bus Readiness Improvements
The City today announced it has been awarded a $162,000 grant by the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District that will help lay the foundation for the City as it prepares for the transition to a 100 percent electric bus fleet by 2040.
The grant will go toward necessary design and engineering work needed at the City’s bus yard in addition to paying for the purchase and installation of up to three electric bus charging units. The City anticipates the charging units will be installed and fully functional in early 2021.
“The City of San Luis Obispo is deeply honored and proud to be receiving this important grant funding that will help lay the foundation for our transition to a 100 percent electric bus fleet by 2040, said City of San Luis Obispo Transit Manager Gamaliel Anguiano. “These funds will go a long way toward helping us to complete this important preparatory work.”
