Bike Light “Pop-Up” Checkpoint
The City of San Luis Obispo Police and Public Works Departments will be conducting a bike light “Pop-up” checkpoint on Wednesday, November 6 in the city of San Luis Obispo.
With the recent time change, the sun sets around 5 p.m. and it is especially important to remember to use bike lights, wear reflective materials and to be aware that being seen is more difficult during evening commutes.
A front bike light and a rear reflector are required at night by law and a can result in a fine of nearly $200 for not using them. A rear bike light is also highly recommended. Bike lights are essential for seeing the road as well as being seen by other road users.
More information about results from the checkpoint will be provided on Thursday.
