Council to consider a Private Sewer Lateral Replacement Rebate Program and Ordinance

Post Date:08/14/2019 9:40 AM

On August 20, 2019, the City Council will be considering new rebates for single-family residents replacing their sewer lateral. These rebates are proposed to range from $2,000 to $3,000, not to exceed 50 percent of the lateral replacement cost. The larger rebates are proposed for residents in capacity constrained areas.

The following Municipal Code amendments and additions will also be considered at that hearing:

  • Private sewer lateral maintenance requirements,
  • Events requiring private sewer lateral inspections, including inspection upon sale of a property, and
  • Wastewater flow offset requirements applicable to new development in capacity constrained areas of the wastewater collection system.

The goal of the rebates and Municipal Code modifications is to reduce inflow and infiltration from private sewer laterals and reduce the potential for sanitary sewer overflows. To view the full report, locate Item #13 (packet page 160) in the 8/20/2019 Agenda Packet.
