Post Date:05/20/2019 9:00 AM

In keeping with the tradition of the American Public Works Association (APWA), those who work in professions providing and maintaining public facilities and services will be honored during National Public Works Week, May 19 through May 25, 2019. This year’s theme is, “It Starts Here.” The public is invited to participate in activities and programs scheduled for the week celebrating the vital role public works plays in connecting the community.

Local activities scheduled for National Public Works Week include a Proclamation presentation by Mayor Heidi Harmon at the May 21, City Council Meeting at 6 p.m. Public Works representatives from local City and County agencies will display equipment and information at the Downtown SLO Thursday Night Farmers’ Market on May 23.

Public Works and Utilities provides, maintains, and improves the structures and services that assure a higher quality of life for our communities. Its streets, roads, bridges, and public transportation keep us linked together from coast to coast, and its clean water and sanitation services keep us healthy and allow our communities to grow and prosper.
