Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) seeks qualified, passionate and committed applicants for its volunteer Community Advisory Council (CAC).

The Cities of San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay are soliciting applications for a Community Advisory Council seat with Monterey Bay Community Power. The application period will open March 25, 2019 and close April 19, 2019.

In December 2018, San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay jointly became official members of Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) to pursue community choice energy programs. As part of the MBCP Joint Powers Agreement, the two cities will share a Community Advisory Council (CAC) seat.

The MBCP Community Advisory Council regularly makes decisions regarding maximizing greenhouse gas reduction, stabilizing and reducing customer rates and costs; and investing in local energy projects and programs. Members of the community are appointed to serve on the advisory body to provide greater community participation and public input in the determination of Joint Powers Authority policies.

CAC members will meet monthly for 2-3 hours per meeting. All meetings will be held at: Monterey Bay Community Power, 70 Garden Court, Suite 300, Monterey, CA 93940.  Meetings, dates, and times will be determined once members are seated, but will be during weekdays. Physical attendance is preferred. However, attendance via phone or computer at San Luis Obispo City Hall may be allowed.

Any resident of the Cities of San Luis Obispo or Morro Bay interested in volunteering to serve on this advisory body is invited to complete an Advisory Body application linked here. Email the completed application to cityclerk@slocity.org or mail to the City Clerk’s Office at 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.  For questions, call 805-781-7100. Email applications are preferred.
