The City of San Luis Obispo Urban Forest Services team will be pruning trees Downtown beginning January 31. Work will be done on Higuera Street – between Morro and Nipomo – for two weeks. There will be lane closures from 7 to 11 a.m., a break for lunchtime traffic, and work will resume 1 to 4 p.m. Please allow for extra travel time and be mindful of crews while driving Downtown.
The City’s Downtown core features a large canopy of Ficus trees and the City’s Urban Forester program meets semi-monthly to maintain trees. The City’s Urban Forest team is part of the Public Works department and a team of community member volunteer help their beautification efforts. The City has been recognized for 35 consecutive years as a Tree City USA.
