How much do you know about the upcoming Citywide Single Vote for City Council Members?  

Please take this survey if you live in city limits and are either eligible or registered to vote in San Luis Obispo. The survey will close on Saturday, August 29 at 11:59 p.m. 

The City of San Luis Obispo is conducting a survey to better understand voter awareness about the new Citywide Single Vote for Council Members. Take this survey to: 

• Share how much you know about the new voting method   
• Provide feedback to improve our outreach efforts  
• Ask any questions you may have regarding the Citywide Single Vote  

The Citywide Single Vote is a fair and easy way of electing Council Members starting in the November 2026 election. Instead of voting for two candidates, everyone will now vote for one, and the two candidates with the most votes will be elected.  

The City Council approved this change in January after a lawsuit demanded that the City divide San Luis Obispo into districts. After public input and careful review, the City agreed to switch to a Citywide Single Vote instead of dividing the community. As a result, all voters can still take part in every Council Member election, and all voters can choose the candidate who best represents them from across the city.

The City has already reached thousands of community members through mailers, events, online information, and in-person outreach efforts, and will continue sharing clear, simple details to help make sure every vote counts.
