Save the Date: Vegetation Management Plan Community Presentation July 14As wildfire risk continues to grow, the City of San Luis Obispo is taking proactive steps to reduce risk and protect the community. Community members are invited to attend an upcoming Vegetation Management Plan presentation to learn how San Luis Obispo is building a more fire-resilient community and preparing for the future.

Community Presentation: Vegetation Management Plan
Tuesday, July 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
San Luis Obispo Library Community Room

Save the Date!

Presenters will include:

  • City Biologist, Fredde Otte
  • City Sustainability & Natural Resources Analyst, Lucia Baesemann
  • City Fire Marshall, Josh Daniel
  • City Emergency Manager, Joe Little

During this community presentation, City staff and the consultant team developing the Vegetation Management Plan will provide an update on the planning process, explain the areas being prioritized, and share the initial wildfire prevention projects planned.

Wildfire prevention starts long before a fire begins. By planning ahead, managing vegetation responsibly and working together as a community, we can reduce fire risk, protect our neighborhoods and help ensure San Luis Obispo remains resilient for generations to come.

The community presentation provides an opportunity for community input, an essential part of developing a successful Vegetation Management Plan. Community feedback will help shape the plan before it is presented to the City Council for adoption this winter.

Community members who live in San Luis Obispo near undeveloped wildland areas are highly encouraged to attend. Additional neighborhood-focused presentations are planned for the Irish Hills, Bowden Ranch, and Cerro San Luis areas later this year.
