Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.

Transportation, Pavement, & Mobility Improvements

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway. We expect to continue work in the areas below

Various locations: We expect to continue street and sidewalk repairs throughout the City in areas where we completed utility work. To minimize traffic impacts during the day, we anticipate doing some of this work at night as early as next week. Commuters can expect traffic delays, rolling traffic, and lane shifting as construction crews work in each area.

Sewer & Water Projects

Work to upgrade vital groundwork to enhance the reliability, capacity, and safety of our water and sewer system is underway. See what areas we’re working on below.

Higuera Street: We expect to wrap up the initial drilling and installation of the monitoring wells and anticipate starting the next phase of the project which includes developing each well as early as next week. Monitoring well work is happening in different locations on Higuera Street from Los Osos Valley Road to High Street to help track the condition of the City’s groundwater. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to no parking in the areas and shoulder closures.

Park Projects

Righetti Community Park: We’ll be continuing on-site foundational work such as grading. We also expect to begin utility work on Tiburon Way near the Ranch House Road roundabout. Community members can expect minor traffic delays due to flagging as well as construction noise, along with vehicles and equipment moving in and out of the area. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours. Standard construction hours will be 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Mission Plaza Project: Finishing touches like landscaping work and small outstanding items are continuing for the project at the Mission Plaza. The new restrooms are open to the public. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays and intermittent flagging due to trucks moving in and out of the area for concrete work of the kiosk patio. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours.

Why These Projects Matter

While these construction projects may create temporary disruptions, we want to emphasize their significance in shaping the future and protecting the City San Luis Obispo. Each project is community-driven and essential to our city's future. They are not just about fixing roads, creeks, and adding bike lanes; they're a vital part of our collective vision for San Luis Obispo.

Once complete, they will keep SLO in motion, keeping our infrastructure in tip-top shape, making it easier and safer for community members to get around, connecting communities, and creating healthy recreational opportunities for community members.

As you navigate through these construction zones, please remember that the inconveniences you may face today are investments in a brighter and more accessible tomorrow.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Together, we are shaping the future of San Luis Obispo, one project at a time.
