TYPE OF INCIDENT: Minors Cited for Possession of Fake IDs

PLACE OF OCCURRENCE: HaHa Sushi and Ramen, 1065 Olive, San Luis Obispo

DETAILS:

On Sunday, April 23, 2026, at approximately 9:30 PM, ABC Agents working undercover had observed a large group of youthful appearing individuals dining at HaHa Sushi and Ramen ordering and consuming alcoholic beverages. In accordance with state law, agents contacted and identified the members of the group, discovering no one was 21 years old and every person was in possession of a fake identification card.

San Luis Obispo Police Officers responded to the location to assist ABC Agents. Ultimately, 29 individuals were cited and released for Business and Professions Code 25661(a) Possession of a False or Fraudulent Identification. Six of these individuals were also observed in possession of alcoholic beverages and were additionally arrested for Business and Professions Code 25662(a) Misdemeanor Minor in Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage. All individuals were cited and released from the scene.

Preventing the sale of alcoholic beverage to minors helps increase public safety by reducing DUI arrests and collisions. Statistics have shown that young people under the age of 21 have a much higher risk of being involved in a collision than older drivers. About 25 percent of fatal crashes involve underage drinking, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
