This May, the City of San Luis Obispo is joining communities across the country in celebrating National Bike Month with a full month of events that promote bicycling as a fun, healthy, and sustainable way to get around.
As part of SLO Regional Rideshare’s Bike Month celebration, activities will take place throughout the City of San Luis Obispo and across San Luis Obispo County to encourage residents of all ages to get out and ride.
“Bike Month is all about encouraging people to get out and experience how easy and enjoyable biking can be,” said Jennifer Rice, Deputy Director of Mobility Services. “Whether you're riding to work, heading to school, or simply exploring the city, biking is a fun and healthy way to get around. We hope Bike Month inspires more people to give it a try and discover the benefits for themselves.”
The City of San Luis Obispo has made significant investments in bike infrastructure to create safer, more connected, and more accessible routes for people of all ages and abilities to ride throughout the community. Residents can find how-to videos, safety tips, and additional resources on the City’s Roll & Stroll Resource Hub. Thanks in part to these efforts, the City has earned Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community status from the League of American Bicyclists.
