Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected. 

Transportation, Pavement, & Mobility Improvements

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway. We expect to continue work in the areas below.

• Tank Farm Road: We’ve completed the paving portion of the work on Tank Farm. Remaining work expected to continue is striping and installing pedestrian flashing beacons. We’ll maintain traffic flowing in two directions. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to flagging, lane closures and shifting. Please drive carefully through the work zone, plan for extra travel time, take alternative routes, and share this information with your neighbors. 

We plan to continue striping renewal work in the following areas: On San Luis Drive from California Boulevard to Johnson Avenue as well as Foothill Boulevard from California Boulevard to Casa Street. Commuters can expect intermittent lane closures and lane shifting in the areas. 

Park Projects

Work will be continuing on-site for the Mission Plaza Enhancement Project. Work will continue on site, as we wrap up paving around the area. Commuters can expect minimal traffic delays due to flagging and construction trucks entering and leaving the area on Monterey Street between Broad and Palm Streets. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours.

Parking Projects 

Work is wrapping up as part of the Cultural Arts District Parking Garage. We will be opening the new Cultural Arts District Parking Garage on March 17 at 8:00 a.m. and offering free parking for the first 28 days from March 17 to April 13, 2026. 

The new public parking garage is located at 609 Palm Street, on the corner of Nipomo and Palm Streets, and adds nearly 400 parking spaces, 41 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, 14 bike lockers and 16 bike parking spaces to support downtown businesses, cultural venues, residents and visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• Street and sidewalk repairs throughout the City where recent utility work was completed 
• Electrical work at the intersection of South & King Streets

Please keep an eye out for orange cones and active construction sites and remember to:  

Allow Extra Travel Time: Due to ongoing construction, please allow for extra travel time when navigating these areas. 


Slow Down for Construction Crews: Please reduce your speed and exercise caution when driving through construction zones. Slow down if you see orange cones. Our dedicated crews are working diligently to make San Luis Obispo safer for everyone.

While these construction projects may create temporary disruptions, we want to emphasize their significance in shaping the future and protecting the City San Luis Obispo. Each project is community-driven and essential to our city's future. They are not just about fixing roads, creeks, and adding bike lanes; they're a vital part of our collective vision for San Luis Obispo. 

Once complete, they will keep SLO in motion, keeping our infrastructure in tip-top shape, making it easier and safer for community members to get around, connecting communities, and creating healthy recreational opportunities for community members.  

As you navigate through these construction zones, please remember that the inconveniences you may face today are investments in a brighter and more accessible tomorrow.
