Check out what we have going on in the upcoming weeks as we continue to make progress on our ongoing neighborhood enhancement projects aimed at making our city safer, more accessible, and better connected.

Completed Work

We’ve finished sidewalk improvements on Monterey Street between Osos and Santa Rosa Streets to improve accessibility and safety. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by to see the improvements!

Transportation, Pavement, & Mobility Improvements

Work to upgrade and add more safety improvements to key streets and intersections is still underway. We expect to continue work in the areas below.

  • Tank Farm Road: We expect to continue grinding and paving work from Wavertree Street to Poinsettia Street as we make our way towards Broad Street. as we make our way towards Broad Street. We’ll be working on one side of the road at a time and will maintain traffic flowing in two directions. Commuters can expect traffic delays due to flagging, lane closures and shifting. Please drive carefully through the work zone, plan for extra travel time, and share this information with your neighbors.

  • Sacramento Drive:  We’re continuing striping from Industrial Way to Via Esteban. Commuters can expect minor traffic delays due to flagging and lane shifting. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained throughout the duration of the work.

Park Projects

Work will be continuing on-site for the Mission Plaza Enhancement Project. Work will continue on site, as we wrap up paving around the area. Commuters can expect minimal traffic delays due to flagging and construction trucks entering and leaving the area on Monterey Street between Broad and Palm Streets. Pedestrians can expect sidewalk closures with detours.

Parking Projects

We are continuing sidewalk and landscaping work as part of the Cultural Arts District Parking Garage. We’re continuing striping and utility work on Palm, Nipomo, and Monterey Streets. During work Palm, Nipomo, and Monterey Streets are expected to be open, and commuters can still expect minor traffic delays due to intermittent flagging and lane shifting.

Why These Projects Matter

While these construction projects may create temporary disruptions, we want to emphasize their significance in shaping the future and protecting the City San Luis Obispo. Each project is community-driven and essential to our city's future. They are not just about fixing roads, creeks, and adding bike lanes; they're a vital part of our collective vision for San Luis Obispo.

Once complete, they will keep SLO in motion, keeping our infrastructure in tip-top shape, making it easier and safer for community members to get around, connecting communities, and creating healthy recreational opportunities for community members.

As you navigate through these construction zones, please remember that the inconveniences you may face today are investments in a brighter and more accessible tomorrow.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Together, we are shaping the future of San Luis Obispo, one project at a time.
