The City of San Luis Obispo has released the 12-Month Post-Construction Performance Monitoring Report for the North Chorro Neighborhood Greenway, providing an early look at how the project is performing following construction.

The report highlights how the North Chorro Neighborhood Greenway is shaping travel patterns, increasing bike and pedestrian use, and advancing safety and sustainability goals.

The North Chorro Neighborhood Greenway, previously called the Anholm Bikeway, was approved by City Council in 2018. As part of that approval, the City committed to conducting performance monitoring at 12 and 24 months after construction to evaluate whether project goals are being met and to determine if any future modifications may be needed.

The newly released report includes an Executive Summary indicating that the project has resulted in positive changes consistent with its intended goals. Data collected and analyzed over the past year include vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian volumes; vehicle speeds; parking occupancy; and community feedback. The findings build upon the 2023 Performance Monitoring Report, which established pre-construction baseline data.

Additional Community Engagement

While this report includes results from an in-person intercept survey, the City is also conducting a broader online survey, now open to all residents. Results will be analyzed to compare feedback from residents living near the greenway with those from other San Luis Obispo neighborhoods. Findings from the online survey will be included as an attachment to this report.
