TYPE OF INCIDENT: DUI Checkpoint Results

DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: December 12, 2025, from 8:00 pm - 1:00 am

PLACE OF OCCURRENCE: 900 Block of Marsh, San Luis Obispo

DETAILS:

 On December 12, 2025, the San Luis Obispo Police Department held a DUI Checkpoint on the 900 block of Marsh. The checkpoint took place between the hours of 8:00 pm and 1:00 am. Nearly 500 drivers were contacted: two drivers were arrested for DUI and one driver was cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
