TYPE OF INCIDENT: Arrest of Sexual Battery Suspect
PLACE OF OCCURRENCE: Powersource Chiropractic, 1223 Higuera, Suite 101, San Luis Obispo
SUSPECT: 25-year-old Malcolm Sears of San Luis Obispo
On Monday, December 15, 2025, the San Luis Obispo Police Department was made aware of a sexual battery incident that took place at Powersource Chiropractic. The suspect was working as an independent massage therapist at that location.
The victim reported to the San Luis Obispo Police Department that while receiving a massage, Sears touched her inappropriately several times. The inappropriate touching was outside of massage therapy standards and was believed to be of a sexual nature.
After receiving this report, SLOPD officers responded to Sears' residence, where they contacted, interviewed, and arrested him without incident. He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for PC 243.4(c) - felony sexual battery by fraudulent representation.
Detectives believe that there could be additional unidentified victims who may have been assaulted by Sears.
