Arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

TYPE OF INCIDENT:  Arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

PLACE OF OCCURRENCE: 500 block of Broad Street

SUSPECT: Miguel Angel Solisvargas, age 37, resident of Nipomo

VICTIM: 36-year-old male, resident of San Luis Obispo

DETAILS:

On Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:18 am, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Broad Street for a reported vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers determined that the pedestrian was intentionally struck after a road rage incident that originated on Highway 101.

From witness statements and video evidence captured at the scene, it was determined that the victim and suspect exchanged hand gestures and words while traffic was backed up on the highway. The victim pulled off the highway at Broad Street and parked on the 500 block of Broad. Shortly after exiting his vehicle, the suspect followed him and attempted to run him over, with the victim needing to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. The suspect put his truck in reverse and deliberately backed his vehicle into the victim, pinning him against his own truck. The suspect then fled the scene.

A witness to the incident on Broad Street took a photo of the suspect vehicle as it left the area and provided the image to officers. A records check of the license plate indicated the registered owner was Miguel Solisvargas of Nipomo. A “be on the lookout” was broadcast to surrounding agencies San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office deputies found the vehicle at the home of the Solisvargas. SLOPD detectives traveled to the location in Nipomo, contacted Solisvargas then arrested and booked him at the SLO County jail on the following criminal charges:

PC 245(a)(1) – Felony assault with a deadly weapon

PC 594(b)(1) – Felony vandalism

The victim sustained minor to moderate injuries and declined transport to the hospital via ambulance at that time. Later that afternoon, the victim sought care at a local hospital.
