Weather permitting, construction will begin next week to repair and improve the two existing public parking structures on Palm Street in downtown San Luis Obispo.

“When you pay for parking, you make these kinds of maintenance and improvement projects possible,” said Sandra Golonka, the project manager.

Key elements of the downtown parking structure improvement projects include: 

1. Cleaning: Thorough cleaning of the parking structures to enhance aesthetics and create a more welcoming environment.
2. Concrete Repair: Addressing and repairing any structural issues to ensure the long-term integrity of the parking facilities.
3. Coating: Applying protective coatings to surfaces to guard against environmental factors and extend the lifespan of the structures.
4. Painting: Enhancing the visual appeal of the structures while also contributing to their overall maintenance and longevity.

Construction will begin with the City's only gateless parking structure at 842 Palm Street parking structure, followed by additional work at the 919 Palm Street parking structure. During construction, the parking structures will remain open, but portions may be closed off during different phases of the project. The work is estimated to take seven months to complete.

The City is investing more than $2 million from the Parking Fund for this work.

Mantenimiento Comenzara en Estructuras de Estacionamiento en el Centro de SLO

La ciudad de San Luis Obispo está haciendo que las estructuras de estacionamiento existentes en el centro de San Luis Obispo sean más limpias, seguras y duraderas.

Si el clima lo permite, la construcción comenzará la próxima semana para reparar y mejorar las dos estructuras de estacionamiento público existentes en Palm Street en el centro de San Luis Obispo. 

“Cuando pagas por el estacionamiento, haces posible este tipo de proyectos de mantenimiento y mejora,” dijo Sandra Golonka, la gerente del proyecto. 

Los elementos clave de los proyectos de mejora de la estructura de estacionamiento del centro incluyen:

1. Limpieza: Limpieza exhaustiva de las estructuras de estacionamiento para mejorar la estética y crear un ambiente más acogedor.
2. Reparación de hormigón: Abordar y reparar cualquier problema estructural para garantizar la integridad a largo plazo de las instalaciones de estacionamiento. 
3. Recubrimiento: Aplicación de recubrimientos protectores a las superficies para proteger contra factores ambientales y extender la vida útil de las estructuras.
4. Pintura: Mejorar el atractivo visual de las estructuras al tiempo que contribuye a su mantenimiento general y longevidad.

La construcción comenzará con la única estructura de estacionamiento sin puertas de la Ciudad en la estructura de estacionamiento de 842 Palm Street, seguida de trabajo adicional en la estructura de estacionamiento de 919 Palm Street. Durante la construcción, las estructuras de estacionamiento permanecerán abiertas, pero las porciones pueden cerrarse durante las diferentes fases del proyecto. Se estima que el trabajo tardará siete meses en completarse. 

La Ciudad está invirtiendo $2 millones del Fondo de Estacionamiento para este trabajo.
