In order to further reduce the risk of community spread of COVID-19 in our community, the City of San Luis Obispo is announcing temporary, precautionary changes to City facilities and operations that will help to protect the public and City employees.
Effective Monday, March 16, City Facilities including the Damon-Garcia Sports Complex, all diamond sport fields, other turf fields and facilities will be closed to all youth and adult sport programs, group play, drop-in play and permitted programs through the end of March, or until such time that appropriate measures are in place to ensure public health and safety.
Permit requests will currently be denied. The City of San Luis Obispo is working closely with the County of San Luis Obispo in discussing best practices in restoring permitted uses for City Facilities. When the City of San Luis Obispo receives direction from the County of San Luis Obispo and what the best practices will be for opening facilities to the community, select facilities that follow prior social distancing may open to the community with modified schedules and implementing other safety precautions. There is currently no timeline for the reopening of Facilities.
The Parks and Recreation Department has a variety of facilities for an abundance of recreational uses. These facilities provide excellent locations for parties, meetings, weddings and receptions, recreation, and community enjoyment.
