Welcome to the City of San Luis Obispo Parks page! The City's 23 parks (and counting) make up about 106 acres of land in San Luis Obispo and are maintained by 13 full-time employees and 6 supplemental employees.

Reserving a Park

Whether you’re planning a picnic, a family gathering, a community event, or need it for recreational use our beautiful parks offer the perfect backdrop for your outdoor activities. Explore our wide selection of parks below, each equipped with unique amenities that cater to your needs.

Reserving a park is easy! Simply browse our available locations, check for your desired dates, and fill out our online reservation form.

The Damon-Garcia Sports Complex is a 16-acre facility featuring approximately 10.2 acres of turf located on Broad Street at Industrial Way.  The primary purpose of the facility is to provide playing space for competitive play.  The complex is divided into two sections: the lower section, which is the largest, comprising fields A, B, and C, and the upper section which is the Daryl-Damon field.  The complex features four full-size soccer fields which, during the peak soccer season, can be modified into a total of seven smaller fields are laid out by hand on fields A, B, and C, perpendicular to the main field.  The lower section of Damon-Garcia features an area known as “No Man’s Land”  which does not provide any permitted play. Fields A, B, and Daryl Damon field also have been set up for rugby play with sockets of PVC pipe set in the ground for rugby goals.

The City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for scheduling and permitting at the Damon-Garcia Sports Complex.  For normal field uses, activities that will have no major impact to the facility or parking, the facility may be permitted for reservations daily (excluding Mondays) from 8:00 am - 10:00 pm, maintenance schedule pending. For large event or tournament, the facility is available from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Daily and Annual maintenance will affect availability but in most cases, the entire complex is available for reservation.

Unpermitted Play at Damon-Garcia Sports Complex is not allowed. Individuals or user groups found in violation will be removed.

For alternate field space locations, the City has the following areas that can accommodate other Drop-In Play opportunities throughout the week (permit pending):

Parking at SESLOC

Damon-Garcia permitted event use parking of the SESLOC parking lot is generally available during the weekdays beginning at 6:00 PM through 10:00 PM for both northern and southern lots. On Saturdays, Damon-Garcia users may park in the southern lot only from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM.  On Sundays, Damon-Garcia users will be able to park in both northern and southern lots from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM.  At no time will Damon-Garcia users be able to park in designated ATM spaces.

The use of the SESLOC parking lot is allowed for evening and weekend field use during the regular season. Damon Garcia event parking is not allowed in the SESLOC lots Monday – Friday during regular business hours.

No Dogs are permitted at Damon-Garcia Sports Complex in accordance with Municipal Code 12.20.040
