Proposed Changes: City staff are proposing a change to the South Street and King Court Crossing Project, replacing the previously planned pedestrian hybrid beacon with a standard traffic signal. This change would retain benefits to pedestrian and bicycle crossings, while also improving access for King Court drivers.
Improvements to the South Street and King Court intersection are supported by the City’s adopted Active Transportation Plan and Vision Zero policies to improve safety for all road users, particularly on primary routes to school. The project will improve connectivity to nearby Meadow Park, Hawthorne Elementary School, the King-Nipomo Neighborhood Greenway, and nearby residences.
