Happy Halloween, SLO!

Halloween is a fun time for families, students, and community members across San Luis Obispo and we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable celebration!

To help keep our neighborhoods safe, the entire area within the San Luis Obispo city limits is designated as a Safety Enhancement Zone around Halloween. During this time, fines for certain violations are doubled to encourage responsible celebrations. Affected violations include noise violations, open container, and public safety infractions.

🕛 When the Safety Enhancement Zone is in effect in 2025:

  • Weekend before Halloween: The Safety Enhancement Zone is in effect from 12:01 a.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. Monday.

  • For Halloween Weekend: The Safety Enhancement Zone takes effect from 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 until 7:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3
