Water Education Programs

3rd and 4th Grade Program

Class Presentation
Designed to complement the FOSS Water Module, students will learn about the water cycle, water treatment, reclamation, water conservation and water recycling.  This interactive 45-minute program entitled "The Story of Your Water" includes vivid graphics and follow-up materials to use in the class after the program.

Field Trips
Students can visit the San Luis Obispo Water Reclamation Facility, observing first-hand how wastewater from school and home is reclaimed.  Students will also visit the Reclamation Facilities water lab, learning how their water is tested and analyzed.   This dynamic 75 minute field trip will leave a lasting impression on students about the importance of water.

Water Resource Kit
The Water Resource Kit includes posters, videos, a water cycle demonstration model, a water molecule model, and more.


Middle School Program

Class Presentation
This 45 minute interactive program takes students on a journey from the reservoirs where City water is stored to the reclamation facility where used water is cleaned for reuse or return to San Luis Creek.  "The Story of Your Water" slide program details water conservation, water treatment, and the City's new water recycling program.
