Central Coast and
Water |
|
The
Central Coast Area, like much of California, has two dominant seasons -
the warm dry season and the cool wet season. A general rule of
thumb is that the dry season extends from May through September and the
wet season begins around October and lasts until April. Each year
is unique.
Very wet years can fill our reservoirs. Several consecutive dry years
can create a drought and draw down the reservoirs to critical levels.
The City of San Luis Obispo recognizes the need to conserve water at all
times. We encourage our citizens to participate in conservation
practices. Through the use of incentives, ordinances and
education, citizens can benefit now and ensure that water will be
available in the future.

Conservation Office |
|
The Utilities Conservation Office program coordinates the planning, development and
implementation of programs and services related reducing water use and solid waste
generation. The program goals are 1) achieving the Citys
solid waste diversion goals and 2) maintaining per capita waster use at or below the level identified in the Urban
Water Management Plan.
