2014-2015 Grants-In-Aid Application

Tourism Promotion
Through the Promotional Coordinating Committee, staff provides oversight to tourism promotional and advertising contracts, "seed money" for new promotional opportunities and special events that enhance tourism under the Enhanced Promotions Program, and the Cultural Grants-in-Aid program.

In June of 2008, The City Council adopted an ordinance establishing the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID). The TBID raises funds that are solely dedicated to tourism marketing and promotions to attract visitors to San Luis Obispo and its lodging industry.

2014-15 Events Promotion Sponsorship Application
The City of San Luis Obispo through the Promotional Coordinating Committee (PCC) and Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) would like to announce that application packets for the 2014-15 Events Promotion sponsorship funding are available on 7/7/14.  For the first time, the City is holding a consolidated Events Promotion sponsorship application time period. The City is seeking new destination events that showcase the attributes of our City to significantly attract tourists and enhance the experience for the local community, or existing destination events that are developing new features to their program. The Event Promotion Sponsorship funding is granted annually by the City of San Luis Obispo and administered by the PCC and TBID.  Under the program, funds are made available through a competitive process to local events that promote activities of cultural & recreational benefit to City residents and the enhancement of tourism promotion for the City of San Luis Obispo.  Please be aware that grant funding is subject to budget constraints.

To be considered for a grant, organizations must apply no later than 5:00 p.m., August 8, 2014.  No late or incomplete applications will be accepted. Applying organizations are recommended to attend an informational meeting on July 9, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 990 Palm Street. Interested events can obtain an application by visiting following the link above or pick up an application in Administration or Clerk’s Office at City Hall 990 Palm Street.
