The current cable television franchisee is Charter Communications. The City’s function is to negotiate and oversee the terms of the franchise and to assure that any rate increases are legal, based on Federal Communication law. The City does not have any direct ability to regulate rates that fall within legal parameters. Nor does it have any direct control over programming. However, concerns or comments received from subscribers are forwarded on to Charter Communications.
