Development Review Programs
Program Description
The engineering development review program oversees design and construction of various
public works projects built by private developers for City ownership. These projects
typically include additions to the Citys water, wastewater, street, flood control,
and park systems. The program goal is safe, effective, and efficient public works which
meet established engineering standards and specifications. This program has two major
activities:
- Development review.
Reviewing parcel maps, subdivision maps, and subdivision construction plans as required by
the Subdivision Map Act; reviewing private building and development project plans;
inspecting public works construction within private developments; issuing permits to
ensure safe construction and encroachment in the public right of way; enforcing Federal
Emergency Management Act (FEMA) standards which prevent or reduce damage caused by
flooding.
- Record
keeping.
Preparing and filing as-built drawings of private public works construction; preparing
legal descriptions for property transactions.
